The company just launched a new tablet for $249.99 named ZenPadZ8 which will make you think if you should buy a cellular version of iPad Mini 4 costing around $280 more.

This ZenPadZ8 sports a 7.9 inch 2048 x 1536 resolution screen which is same as iPad Mini 4. Even though the hexacore Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor in Z8 is one of the fastest processor available in the market, it will be a fair comparison to the Apples A8 chip that is specially tuned for the iOS. But the inclusion of an Adreno 510 GPU capable of processing 4K videos is what making the difference. This GPU supports Vulkan for playing games written in Application Programming Interface.

The Z8 has 16 GB of internal storage and the option for SD card expansion. The 8-megapixel rear camera is same as iPad Mini 4 but the front camera has a better resolution of 2-megapixels. With Wi-Fi 802.11ac the Z8 is 320 grams which is little heavier than iPad Mini 4 weighing at 304 grams.

The Z8 will be available exclusively on Verizon Wireless and will be available for online order from 23rd of June. Though Asus didn’t respond to the availability of the product outside of US.

The ZenPadZ8 will be cellular-ready and will last 13 hours on one full charge, Verizon claims. From the hardware perspective, the Z8 definitely is superior. Finally, the question is whether you want an Android or iOS operating system on your tablet.
