Automobile manufacturer, Kia Motors has announced that it will preview an array of latest technologies developed for the past autonomous driving epoch at the 2019 CES (Consumer Electronic Show) next month in Las Vegas, USA. The automobile company will be showcasing an interactive demonstration titled, Space of Emotive Driving, that looks to a future when autonomous driving is the standard and prioritizes the advancement to the human mobility experience.
The concept spins around Kia’s new Real-time Emotion Adaptive Driving (R.E.A.D.) system that is alleged to be world’s first technology developed based on research collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Lab’s Affective Computing group. The company’s R.E.A.D. system can optimize and personalize the cabin space in a vehicle by assessing a driver’s emotional state in real-time. The R.E.A.D. system utilizes Artificial Intelligence-based bio-signal recognition technology to monitor a driver’s emotional state in real-time and tailors the vehicle’s interior environment based on this evaluation. The R.E.A.D. system can potentially change condition relating to the human senses within the cabin, creating a more pleasing mobility experience.
President and Head of Research & Development Division at Kia Motors, Albert Biermann stated that his company has built the R.E.A.D. system to generate an interactive future-mobility in-cabin space by converging cutting-edge vehicle-control tech and AI-powered emotional intelligence. As a result, the R.E.A.D. system will allow incessant communication between a driver and the vehicle through the implicit language of emotional feeling, thereby offering an optimized human senses-oriented space for drivers in real-time. The 2019 CES Kia demonstration will also emphasize numerous other improved in-car and mobility technologies that are centered on the brand’s emotive driving concept.
