Cyxtera Technologies, an Addison, Texas-based provider of data center colocation, enterprise application, hybrid cloud, cybersecurity, and analytics solutions, as per recent reports this week, has announced opening a new data centre facility in Frankfurt, Germany, and further plans to expand its London facility, at CyxteraCon, the company’s annual user conference.
With these latest deployments, along with its planned expansion later this year in Amsterdam, the Texas-based Cyxtera will be establishing a strong presence in key European markets. With these expansions, the company has increased its regional footprint to a rough estimate of 650,000 sq. ft. and 34 MW of power.
With its 2nd Frankfurt data center, Cyxtera aims to rope in global enterprise clients that have plans for expansion into Germany. At its London site – Slough data center campus – the company plans an expansion of additional 30,000 sq. ft.
“Increasing our presence in London and Frankfurt is key to meeting the growing demand we are seeing from industries including the finance, manufacturing and technology sectors,” stated Alex Pearson, Senior Vice President for International Sales at Cyxtera. “Europe is a key region for Cyxtera and our customers, so this expansion is a natural progression.”
Cyxtera plans to open the new Frankfurt data center and its London site expansion in July 2019 with Amsterdam later in the year.
“Enterprises continue to turn to colocation to reduce operating costs and take advantage of the latest technology developments in infrastructure without the risk of losing control or the ability to meet security requirements,” stated Randy Rowland, President of Data Centre Services for Cyxtera. “The increased demand for cloud and hybrid services is driving technology service providers to consume our data center capacity.
“Our expansions ensure we continue to operate one of the largest global footprints in the colocation industry and can offer new and existing customers world-class service in major data center markets worldwide.”
