Serverless architectures have bagged lots of crazes nowadays, but let’s don’t forget that it can be incredibly difficult to monitor sometimes. Going by what Datadog Product Manager Daniel Langer says, the lambda users do not hold any basic knowledge about the virtual machine (VM) which runs a Lambda function making it difficult for the traditional monitoring agents to access it. It also has a different set to monitor information in the serverless.

AWS X-Ray provides users with the views of requests when in an application to provide a better way of analyzing and debugging the production and distributed applications. By integrating with Datadog, users are provided with serverless requests and executions to zero the source of errors and slowdowns. It also enables better evaluation of performance in serverless functions and impacts their overall application performance.

Datadog will now combine their data into unified Cloud Functions UI by which users can now access, search, filter, and analyze Lambda functions. Not only this, but they can also see Lambda metrics and logs along with the distributed request of traces from the functions.
