Altair Semiconductor, a developer of LTE chipsets, as per recent reports last week, has announced entering into a partnership agreement with ERM Advanced Telematics, a manufacturer of vehicle GPS equipment and fleet tracking solutions, to develop a completely new range of low-power consumption and installation-free automotive IoT solutions.
ERM, by leveraging Altair’s cellular IoT chipsets, is developing a new set of IoT and asset management solutions that deliver installation-free solutions for IoT, asset management, stolen vehicle recovery (SVR), and vehicle financial services. These solutions employ a variety of sensors and will include event-based platforms to automate the vehicle location process and asset management applications.
“As installation costs continue to rise in comparison to hardware prices, Altair’s unparalleled low power figures and extended battery life means we can provide onboard solutions with minimal installation requirements that are able to remain in the field for up to two years,” explained Kfir Lavi, SVP and Deputy CEO, ERM Advanced Telematics. “This will usher in a new dawn for IoT and asset management, opening up a whole new market of applications for a wide range of automotive IoT scenarios.”
