Quora account of Sundar Pichai, CEO at Google was hacked last Sunday. OurMine a hackers group responsible this hack said, “More targets will follow”. Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg was a victim of this very group earlier this month.
The message, “We are just testing your security” was auto-posted to Sundar Pichai’s twitter, which is been deleted later. There are no sensitive data stolen in these hacks so far. While Zuckerberg’s password was uncovered in a linked in breach, for Pichai they said their security was very week. OurMine has informed that they will keep hacking tech executives accounts.
The Twitter accounts of Spotify CEO, DanielEk, Amazon CTO, Werner Vogels and celebrity Channing Tatum were also been hacked last week. As there are no major aftermaths, the hacks look like more of a publicity stunts. The hacking group has also posted that users can protect their accounts using OurMines services. OurMine said, “They can scan liability websites and improve thesecurity of social media accounts and for $1000 and $100”, respectively. The group has made a little over $18,000 in exchange for its services.
The group of hackers wrote in an e-mail that they are just trying to convey the message, “Nobody is safe online”.
