Well reputed Google Cloud CEO Diane Greene, according to reports will be leaving the company. Her position will be taken over by Thomas Kurian, a former elite Oracle executive.
Mrs.Kurian will be joining Google Cloud on Nov. 26 and will take up leadership functionalities by early 2019. Greene shall retain the CEO position till January 2019.
Greene was a former CEO and co-founder of VMware later recruited by Google in 2015 for building its cloud business. she was successful in shifting the tech giant’s cloud focus to enterprise business and artificial intelligence. In a recent blog-post, Greene has announced her resignation, where she mentions the reason behind her resignation is to pursue her passions around mentoring and education which will involve investing and helping female engineers and scientists to build their own companies. She writes that the world will turn into a better place with more female founder CEOs. Besides the work in education will lead to a combined technology of in-person teaching, high-quality education that is low-cost, scalable, and personalized.
Alphabet, Google’s parent company has bought Greene’s startup bebop, for 380.2 million dollars in 2016 to provide an enterprise application development platform.
