Vuzix® Corporation, an American multinational technology firm headquartered in Rochester, New York, in collaboration with Mercari, Inc., an e-commerce company founded in February 2013, under Mercari’s R&D organization Mercari R4D, in a joint statement on Thursday, Dec. 20th 2018, announced the start of an AI vision proof of concept (PoC) shopping experience for the Vuzix Blade® AR Smart Glasses. The AR smart glasses, aim to deliver a unique experience to e-commerce users by providing them product related information privately by leveraging extended reality (XR) and Edge AI.
The smart glasses, which come equipped with the Vuzix Blade camera, offer gesture controls to the users. They can now retrieve sale listing of similar products on the Mercari marketplace, along with product pricing, without the need to even take out their phone from their pocket. The Mercari R4D team, which developed Mercari AI vision enhancement shopping application, optimized the user interface -UI/UX of the Vuzix Blade Smart Glasses. The team will be displaying the shopping application at the Consumer Electronics Show –CES-2019, which will be held on Jan 8th to Jan 11th, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
According to Paul Travers, Vuzix President and Chief Executive Officer, the company are thrilled by the news pf Mercari showcasing their AI vision enhancement shopping application on the Vuzix Blade Smart Glasses. The AI shopping application delivers new innovative ways for individual customers to comparative shop, thus bringing the digital and the real world together with a simple hand gesture.
