The commitment of the company is reflected by the acquisition of the RCS as mobile networks transition to IP-based networks and services said the South Korean tech giant. NewNet is a Canada-based company and formed in 2009. The company was named NewPace prior to its acquisition by NewNet Communication Technologies back in 2014. The NewNet acquisition has provided RCS infrastructure and service to the company. Samsung is planning to launch more handsets with the technology and offer solutions to the telcos that do not have the technology. The mobile market will be benefited with the broader communication ecosystem mentioned the company in a statement.


Allowing the sending of texts, group chat, and the sharing of large multimedia files RCS is a messaging standard set by GSMA. It enables users to communicate on any network with RCS incorporated, unlike other messaging apps. The South Korean tech giant has been more active in its acquisition under the leadership of Lee Jae-Yong, vice chairman and de facto leader of the entire Samsung Group. Harman the auto parts supplier was also been acquired by Samsung earlier this week. In its upcoming S8 series of mobile phones, the company is planning to incorporate AI-based voice assistant maker that it acquired with the acquisition of Vivo last month.
