Digital on-demand meditation provider Journey Meditation has introduced an application, named Journey LIVE, to bring a group meditation experience to users at home. The New York-based company’s app will allow users to stream live video instructions and classes of meditation. The launch of the app concurs with another announcement where the company clinched USD 2.4 million in a seed funding round from Canaan with additional backer from Brooklyn Bridge Ventures, Betaworks, BDMI, The Fund, Nelstone Ventures, New York Venture Partners and angel investors.
According to a report, meditation can aid patients in managing anxiety, boosting tolerance capability and developing self-awareness aptitude. Moreover, through this practice, it’s effective in assisting people to manage chronic situations like asthma, stress, and depression. In a statement, Journey Meditation Founder and CEO Stephen Sokoler stated that “Meditation can be intimidating and confusing, and sticking with it is often challenging – especially on your own.” According to him, “We created Journey LIVE to allow people the flexibility and mobility they need but with the added – and essential – ingredients of human connection and support. We connect users with an experienced teacher in real-time to guide them in simple meditation practice, building genuine, long-term connections with the practice and teachers that keep them coming back every day.”
In the digital health sector, meditation is becoming a trend, as companies pouring a flood of capital. Headspace, for instance, is a key player in this space, who is a maker of heedful meditation application. As part of the announcement, Journey Meditation plans to charge their live streaming app with a monthly membership rate of $19.95 or a yearly rate of $14.95 a month. Even, users also can opt a lifetime membership for $399.95.
