PlateSmart Technologies, an Oldsmar, Florida-based provider of license plate recognition software, as per recent reports this week, has announced integrating its ARES Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) software with Vivotek network cameras.
In its statement, PlateSmart says its ALPR software allows for seamless integration with virtually any camera or video management system (VMS) out there in the market.
“Vivotek’s focus on perimeter security and traffic monitoring really made our partnership a natural fit,” says Mike Budz, director of sales, PlateSmart. “PlateSmart is excited to be working with a global leader like Vivotek, and we look forward to joining them in opportunities not only in the U.S. but across the globe.”
With an acronym ANPR – Automatic Number Plate Recognition – outside of the US, PlateSmart’s ARES solution has seen a massive implementation throughout South America, Europe, and parts of Oceania. The tech that PlateSmart employs – true object recognition technology – on comparison with other more simplistic optical character recognition (OCR) out there in the market, ensures successful license plate read in many different countries, the company claims.
PlateSmart’s ARES solution provides real-time actionable intelligence with license plate number, along with jurisdiction state where the vehicle is registered and the make and model of the vehicle, to provide a complete view of the situation.
“The demand for automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) solutions is expected to increase rapidly around the world,” states Shengfu Cheng, director of Vivotek’s marketing and product development division. “Combining PlateSmart’s expertise in ANPR technology with the superior performance of Vivotek’s network cameras, this partnership drives sustainable growth in the global market.”
