Resideo Technologies, an Austin, Texas-based pioneer in home-based comfort and security solutions, as per recent reports this week, has acquired both the energy efficiency tech and the team that played a key role in it from Whisker Labs, a Germantown, Maryland-based developer of advanced home intelligence technologies.
Whisker’s tech creates a thermodynamic model of a home, which enables it to accurately predict home heating and air conditioning run time, along with energy use, providing a homeowner the insight use less energy and save more on energy bills without sacrificing on comfort.
“Whisker Labs has been a great partner for us, and adding this capability is yet another example of our commitment to compelling growth opportunities that strengthen and complement our smart home offerings through the use of intelligent data,” states Mike Nefkens, President & CEO, Resideo. “With our presence in 150 million homes and unparalleled channel of 110,000 professional contractors, we are in a prime position to deploy this technology at the next level, making our smart home products even smarter while saving homeowners money on their energy bills.”
The recent Whisker tech acquisition is Resideo’s second acquisition, as a standalone, publicly traded company, post its Honeywell spinoff, last year, in Oct. 2018. Earlier this year, in Mar. 2019, Resideo acquired Buoy Labs, a WiFi enabled smart home solution provider that enables a homeowner to track water usage.
