Vivint Smart Home, a Provo, Utah-based smart home services company, as per recent press reports, has announced the launch of its “Vivint Car Guard”, a first-of-its-kind service that enables users to manage both home security and car security with a single app. The new home and car security service enables users to better manage their cars along with their home, by monitoring the security, location and diagnostics features of a car from anywhere, anytime all around the world. Furthermore, the service sends an app notification to users if their car gets bumped, towed or is stolen.
Owing to parking congestions, many homeowners in the US sort to street parking practices, where often there is a security vulnerability. Furthermore, as per statistics, in the US alone, a car is stolen every 41 seconds, an alarming figure, which amounts to a whopping 800,000 stolen vehicles per year.
The app with its connected home and car feature enables smart home lights and outdoor video cameras to observe if someone disturbs the vehicle parked in the driveway or out on streets. Such disturbances like a probable bump, or a theft attempt, automatically trigger the lights to turn on, doors to lock, and garage doors to close. Moreover, the Car Guard app also comes with a security feature to arm the security system when the users are away.
“Consumers want to protect their two most valuable assets — their home and their car,” comments Jeff Lyman, chief product officer, Vivint. “Connecting the car and home unlocks enhanced protection and convenience that weren’t possible before.”
